Rio Vista man, 23, arrested in connection with the death of a baby boy – The Vacaville Reporter

A 23-year-old man from Rio Vista, arrested on Saturday in connection with the death of his 2-month-old son earlier this month, will likely face first degree murder charges when he is brought to justice in court Superior of the County of Solano.

Tre Kenneth Clay, arrested by Solano County Sheriff’s investigators without incident at his home, is suspected of seriously injuring the infant, who later died in an East Bay hospital.

Clay remains in Solano County Jail without bail, and court records did not indicate when he would face a judge or court commissioner for a first arraignment.

According to a press release issued by the Rio Vista Police Department, officers received a call on the evening of January 18 about an infant with “suspicious injuries” who had been taken to Kaiser Permanente Antioch Medical Center in Antioch.

Officers opened an investigation and immediately enlisted the help of detectives from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after arriving at Kaiser Antioch, the infant was transported by ambulance to Oakland Children’s Hospital. Sheriff’s detectives responded to both hospitals and learned that the infant had died of his injuries.

The detectives continued their interviews and the collection of evidence at the two hospitals. A search warrant has been obtained for a house on Fourth Street in Rio Vista, where investigators believe the infant suffered fatal injuries. Sheriff’s detectives and crime scene investigators handled the scene and gathered evidence, according to the wording of the prepared statement.

Over the next few days, further interviews were conducted, camera footage reviewed, evidence processed, an autopsy performed, and behavior experts consulted, leading to an arrest warrant for Clay.

Besides first degree murder, Clay will likely face a charge of child abuse resulting in death upon his arraignment.
